Reupholster challenge

I picked these winged-backed babies up at Goodwill, or the "G-dub", as my husband and I lovingly refer to it, for around fifteen bucks a few months ago:



Please ignore the odd decore between them, I tend to move things around a lot, and the white tray ended up there. :)



   So, there they sit, in front of our bay window in our living room. I loooove the curvy legs. I am probably going to have hubster (Chad) sand, and finish them in a dark mahogany. But, as you will probably agree, they are HIDEOUS! Down right u-g-l-y. I plan to do something about that. I have purchased some drop cloths from Home Depot (yup, I said drop cloths!) and I am going to reupholster them in that simple, earthy canvas. I have a feeling they are going to be amazing! I will keep you updated on the progress. I'm thinkin' this may take me a while. Here are some close-ups, just incase you were thinking "wait, those aren't so ugly."

This is going to be so rewarding once I can stand back and look at my creation. Don't ya just love that feeling?

Sick babies at Clegg Castle

I am so tired. I have been caring for all of the sick babies in my house for over two weeks now. it seems whenever we start to show signs of improvement, another symptom kicks in. Abby asked me what a symptom was, and after I told her, she asks EVERYONE what their symptoms are. That girl makes me laugh...a lot.
I turned 32 yesterday! I am in such a happy place in my life. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful friends I have, as well as the supportive, loving family I have. I was always a little worried that I might not be on the right path, but I was the entire time! Isn't that just how life goes? Funny.
Chad bought a serger for my birthday! I can't tell you how excited that makes me. I am a little intimidated, but, I'm sure I can get the hang of it.
Now that April is over, and I am another year older, I would like to make a special list of all of the things I am happy for:

• The way Boo's hair looks in pigtails
• Chace's smile first thing in the morning.
• The way my house smells after I have been baking.
• My little Bailey who has been with me for ten years.
• How Abby always tells me I smell nice, even when I don't think I do!
• Chad's sense of humor-sarcastic, yet sweet. I know, right?
• My jammies.
• My coffee cup filled for me
• Elmo

These are the days...

My precious son, Chace was born on October 15, 2011. He weighed a healthy 9.7 lbs, and he was 23" long. I look into his sweet face as I nurse him, and it brings me to tears. I am so in love with this little boy. It has been a crazy three weeks. I am just now feeling like I can clean my house again. I am surprised how long it took me to recover from this c-section. I will spare you the gory details, but it wasn't a pretty delivery. There were a few scary moments, but baby boy and I are doing just fine. Things are slowly getting back to normal, once the family visits are over I can begin a steady routine again.

Some things I am SUPER thankful for:

-a sweet-smelling baby boy who depends on me completely
-a cutie-pie 16 month old baby girl who gives me the stickiest kisses ever
-a 7-year-old girl who asks me everyday if mermaids are real.
-a gorgeous husband who looks the sexiest while changing poopy diapers, or getting baby girl in jammies.

I hope you have GOBS of stuff to be thankful for in your life.

I'm baaaack...for now.

So, where have I been you ask? Well, I have been taking off from blog world to work on a very important creation...my SON! Yes, I have been on maternity leave, or pregnancy leave, i guess. I am currently in my 9th month of pregnancy, and I am due for my third, and FINAL cesarean on October 15. We are having a BOY, and I am over the moon with excitement and wonder. We have been super busy working on the new nursery (I now have two of these) and I have been advised to take it easy because we are dealing with a single umbilical artery. I was totally freaked out when the 20 week ultrasound showed only two glowy lines when there should be three, but,  all other tests say he is a healthy six pounder! I have almost a month to go, so I wonder what his chubby behind will be tipping the scales at come delivery day.
Boo is walking now, she is EVERYWHERE! She loves to dance and laugh. She is such a kind spirit, always happy. I am really thankful for that, because I get to be around her smiley face all day. It keeps me in high spirits. Love that Boo! Right now she is rolling on the floor laughing at her belly button, it so adorable.

Love isn't all that's in the air

Chad has been sick the past few days. He has been cruising the couch, hacking, coughing, and sneezing his way through ESPN highlights. My house has been taken over by a germ-ridden sofa hog. I ran to Walgreens and picked him up some meds, so maybe he will be feeling better soon. He is at the doc right now, so I threw on some rubber gloves and stripped the sofa of all blankets, pillows, and socks, threw it all in the washer on HOT. Worst of all, I woke up this morning with a nice cough. I gave him the stink-eye and said in my meany monstery voice, "you got me sick?" "The nerve!" Blah, I hate being sick. I need some inspiration, some motivation to get me back on track. I think it's funny how after a few days of my husband being home from work completely throws me off schedule. It's noon and I'm still in my pajamas drinking now cold coffee.

Even though Chad was sick, he still managed to make Valentine's Day special. I hope you all had a very special Valentine's Day, as well. Also today is my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday, Jen!

Has it really been a month?

I really thought I would be better at blogging than this! I have been super busy with the kiddos and home life that I haven't had a lot of time to myself. I have also been getting my new craft/sewing room ready. Chad is willing to give up half of the exercise room for my crafting station. I really think he is tired of stepping on strips of fabric, bumping his leg on plastic totes filled with rubber stamps and card stock, the Cricut machine that never seems to stay in one place, or maybe its the sewing machine that has taken up permanent residency on our kitchen counter. Either way, I get my very own space! Wooohoo! My family is so tolerant of my craft messes, they just act as if it's completely normal to eat around a sewing machine. I think my daughter, Abby is going to follow in my crafty footsteps. The other day she made several flowers out of felt scraps she found laying around. I was so proud of my mini-me!

New Year, new things...

Happy New Year, everyone! This past year was so good to me. I was married in June, and had my baby girl in July. What a promising year 2010 turned out to be. I have so much to look forward to, and be thankful for in 2011.

I have a few resolutions this year. I know, I know, no one ever sticks to them, right? Well, let's just see how far I can get.

1. I have to lose this baby weight if I ever wanna have another kiddo. (I totally do)

2. Weeding. Not outside, but inside my personal life. Gotta get rid of all those toxic people stinkin' up all the clean air in my world.

3. Focus on family first. That means home cooked meals (sigh, no more Chik-fil-A...poo) nursing my little Boo until her first bday (it's a full time job, trust me) and keeping on top of all of the things piling up at home.

That doesn't seem so awful, does it? Nah, looks doable to me.
